Cabou

Cabou is a low, horizontal desert home that pairs warm concrete block with crisp steel and glass. Deep steel canopies stretch over the outdoor living areas, casting long shade lines across the patios and keeping the glass walls cool.

A long pool runs parallel to the house, framed by an outdoor kitchen and lounge spaces that make the backyard a full extension of the interior. Gravel, boulders and native plants keep the landscape spare and drought-tolerant, so the clean geometry of the house stands out against the desert.

At dusk, warm interior light glows through the glass and the house reads as a series of simple, layered planes. Exposed block, steel and glass leave no room to hide a joint, so the build depended on tight tolerances throughout.
